Attention all parents of a Middle School athlete: The Maquoketa Athletic Boosters will be hosting their annual youth basketball tournaments on Nov 1 and Nov 8-9. Over 100 teams are participating. This requires a tremendous amount of volunteers and donations. The Middle School athletes are being asked to donate either scotcheroos (9×13 pan cut into 12 bars, individually wrapped) or Puppy Chow (1 1/2 cups per bag). 7th graders should bring their donation to the high school on 10/31 between 3:30-6:30 and 8th graders on Nov 7 between 3:30-5:30p. Athletes and their parents are encouraged to work a 3 hour shift. Please contact Tracy Waller at firstname.lastname@example.org or 563-349-0638 with any questions. The Maquoketa Athletic Boosters now support and help fund all athletic programs 7-12th grade.
Maquoketa Middle School
There will be an informational meeting for those interested in Little Card wrestling. It is a mandatory meeting for all parents on November 10th at 6:15 at the High School library.
Student Council will be sponsoring a Food Drive from November 10th through November 21st. Drop off of food items will be at the beginning of each day in the cafeteria. Students will need to give their donation to Mrs. Ferguson and receive a stamp showing your donated. Following is a list of activities. If anyone has any questions please see Mrs. Ferguson.
Wednesday, November 12th will be HAT DAY – students (and teachers) can donate $1 or bring in a canned food item to wear a hat for the day.
Thursday, November 13th there will be a jar of M&M’s in the cafeteria during lunch shifts. Students may donate $1 or a canned good to enter their guess into the drawing.
Tuesday, November 18th will be FAVORITE TEAM SHIRT DAY. Students (and staff) can wear a team shirt for a $1 donation or a canned good item.
Thursday, November 20th there will be a drawing for two movie passes. Students may put their name in ONE time for a $1 donation or a donation of a canned good item.
Yearbook forms are now in the office and in Mrs. Ferguson’s room. One exciting change taking place this year is that the Yearbook will be in CO LO R!! Yearbooks must be preordered and cost is $17.50. Order forms and payment must be turned into the office by February 19th, 2015.
If your child is involved in sports or fine arts, please get in the habit of going to the WaMac Conference website to check on upcoming events. Tom Gruenwald, 7-12 activities director, update this site regularly. This site also give the addresses of the opponents school. Bookmark it and check it. Website is: wamacconference.org. We also have User Guides for anyone interested.
THIS YEAR’S 7th GRADERS DOCUMENTATION OF THE Tdap VACCINE ON THE CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION WILL NEED TO BE PROVIDED TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL NURSE PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL THIS YEAR OR ENROLLMENT CAN BE DENIED ACCORDING TO THE IOWA LAW.
