“B” Day


Yearbook forms are in the office and in Mrs. Ferguson’s room. Yearbook order are due by March 23rd and are $17.50.

Student Council will be selling VALENTINE GRAMS again this year. These are a 4″ heart shaped chocolate chip cookies and will be sold for $3.00. Orders will be taken from January 29th through February 9th. Cookies can be purchased before school, during CST or after school in Mrs. Ferguson’s room. Parents can order by emailing Mrs. Ferguson at Cookies will be delivered on February 14th.

Chess Club!
Chess club will begin this Wednesday and will be held every Wednesday during zero hour in the LMC. See Mrs. Good in the LMC to sign up if you are interested.

Applications for the Optimist Oratorical Contest are now available in the office or see Mrs. Wold. This year’s contest topic is “Where Are My Roots of Optimism?” Final registration is March 3rd. Contest date is March 8th at 3:45pm, location is the YMCA.
Prizes awarded:

1st place = $100
2nd place = $50
District winners receive $2500 scholarship

Student Council will be supporting our local food pantry by sponsoring a HAT DAY on Friday, February 9th. Students may bring in a canned food or pay $1.00 to wear a HAT.

Dodgeball Tournament is set up for Feb 23rd and forms for teams are available in Mr. Fuss’s room.

Dancing with the Cards will be on Saturday, March 3rd, at 7:00 pm at the High School. Come enjoy a fun-filled evening of competition and entertainment! This year’s competitors include:

Admission will be $5. Tickets for voting for your favorite duo will be $1/each or $5/10 tickets.

Proceeds from the event go to the Maquoketa Athletic Boosters to help support all Middle School and High School athletic programs.

Any 8th grader interested in cheer should attend an information meeting on Monday, February 19th from 1-3 at the high school. Please wear clothes that are easy to move in and sneakers. Contact Coach April Edwards at the high school if you have any questions.
Chess club will meet in the cafeteria this Wednesday

The Optimist essay contest winners were Jenna Wiebenga and Natalia Valenzuela! Congratulations to these individuals and to all who entered the contest. The Middle School had 9 entries between 6-8 grades. The judges said they were all very good and hard to pick the top two. Jenna will receive $100 and Natalia will receive $50, both receive medals.
