STUDENTS:

Congratulations to the Maquoketa Middle School band students who represented our school so extremely well yesterday at the NEIBA Large Group Festival in DeWitt.  The ratings for both the 6th grade band and the 7th+8th grade band were literally off-the-chart!  Both bands received a rating of SUPERIOR PLUS, which really doesn’t exist because, officially, the highest possible rating is “Superior.”  A “Superior Plus” rating is a very rare personal expression of enthusiasm by judges when they hear a performance that is unusually impressive.  This is the first time in the history of our school that our 6th grade band has earned this accolade, and it is the second time in our school’s history for the older band.  WAY TO GO BANDS!
Friday will be the last day the Middle School will be collecting the pink high school registration forms from our 8th grade students.  After Friday, parents will need to work with the high school regarding classes for 9th grade.
Please turn in the signed and completed forms.  Thank you.
Do you think you have what it talked to be a cheerleader?  Are you full of spirit and positive energy?  Cheer tryouts will be a little different this year than in the past.  We will have practices to lead up to the tryouts.  Practices will be held March 23-March 27 starting at 3:45 and going to until 4:45. These practices are not required, but they will  earn you bonus points tryouts as well as focus on the items you need to know. The final tryouts will be held on March 28th from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  If interested please stop in the office and pick up a form.
We have extended our Yearbook sales!  You may still purchase your yearbook for $17.50 now through March 20th. Forms are in Mrs. Ferguson’s room or the school office.

All 7th and 8th grade boys interested in going out for track, please sign up outside of the boy’s locker room.  Practice will begin Monday, March 23rd.  If you have any questions please see Mr. Miller or Mr. Lakin.

March is Music in Your Schools Month!   Consider donating to our vocal music department to help pay for our new piano.  We recently purchased a Yamaha from Foster’s music.  The school paid $2500.00 and we are trying to raise $3000.00 by June.  Any amount you would like to contribute would be greatly appreciated.  Please contribute in the main office and let them know it is for the piano fund.  We will place your name on the keyboard of donors.  If you have any questions see or call Dean Wiese.
Again, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for considering this important contribution to our Middle School.
