It’s baaaaaack! Dancing With the Cards returns to the Maquoketa spotlight this year after a one-year hiatus. Couples have been practicing their routines in an effort to win audience and judges’ votes and a coveted trophy.
Eight Maquoketa Community High School students – five females and three males – are paired up with eight area businesspeople for this fourth annual event. Maquoketa Middle School’s even has its own dancer in the contest – Mrs. Kober!
Others volunteering to exhibit their dance moves on the Ohnward stage this year are:
• Kary Becker and Ashley Becker,
• Tonya Flenker and Cale Muhlhausen,
• Rachelle Kober and Colin Meier,
• Jarod Manning and Kadee Dull,
• Diana Miller and Derek Kruser,
• Scott Wirth and Tess Nissen, and
• Brad Young and Taylor Goodenow.
The Middle School will be taking up to 14 students to the Youth Writing Conference at the University of Iowa. The Iowa Youth Writing Project (IYWP), in partnership with the Frank N. Magid Center for Undergraduate Writing at the University of Iowa, is looking for imaginative and passionate junior high school students to participate in a daylong writing experience, which will be held on April 17 from 9am to 2pm at the University of Iowa. Please see your Literacy teacher for a permission slip if you wish to attend. Spots will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please return the permission slip no later than March 26 to Mrs. Kober in Room 36.
There will be a short meeting for any 7th or 8th grade girl interested in track on Friday, March 21st at 8:00 am in the gym. If you are not able to attend the meeting but would like to sign up, please see Mrs. Cavanagh.
