THIS IS MOORE THAN A GAME! On September 20th at the home football game against Anamosa we will be selling Southmoore Strong shirts to help support Southmoore High School in Moore, OK. Moore was hit by a tornado on May 20th. Club Hope and both football teams will be selling shirts to raise money to send to Moore for victims and families still recovering from the tornado. Wednesday, September 25th Dress up as a TOURIST Day
Thursday, September 26th Wear a Hat Day – Cost is $1.00 to participate (All money raised from this event will go towards grade level end of the year Field Trip Funds)
Friday, September 27th Spirit Day. Wear all the Red and White you can.
(You can pay $1.00 to wear a hat or bandana and all money will go to grade level field trip funds) Tattoos are fine but NO FACE PAINT PLEASE!!
Get your RED and WHITE BEADS and Cardinal TATTOOS in time for Homecoming Day!!! Student Council will be selling Cardinal Tattoos and Red and White beads Thursday, September 26th after school in Mrs. Ferguson’s room and Friday, September 27th in the morning from 7:55-8:10 in the cafeteria. Beads are .50 each and tattoos are $1.00.
Student Council will be sponsoring a Pet Food Drive September 17th through September 26th. You may drop off your items in the cafeteria from 8:00-8:15 or in Mrs. Ferguson’s room. For each donation you make you will earn a chance to win a football signed by the Maquoketa Football team or several Maquoketa T-shirts. This has been a great fundraiser in the past and our local Humane Society greatly appreciates all of our donations. Make this year another FABULOUS year!!

NEW IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS ENTERING 7 TH GRADE BEGINNING WITH THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR.
THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM HAS MADE A CHANGE TO THE IOWA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE TO REQUIRE A TdAP VACCINATION FOR ALL ADOLESCENTS ENROLLED IN SECONDARY SCHOOL. IT WILL BE EFFECTIVE BEGINNING WITH THE 2013-14 SCHOOL YEAR. THE NEW LANGUAGE IS INTENDED TO REQUIRE ADOLESCENTS ENTERING 7TH GRADE (APPROXIMATELY 13 YEARS OF AGE) TO HAVE ONE DOSE OF THE Tdap VACCINE.
DOCUMENTATION OF THE Tdap VACCINE ON THE CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION WILL NEED TO BE PROVIDED TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL NURSE PRIOR TO OCTOBER 1, 2013 OR ENROLLMENT CAN BE DENIED ACCORDING TO THE IOWA LAW.
