PARENTS:

Maquoketa Middle School will be giving FAST Assessments in both Math and Reading during the next two weeks.  FAST Assessments are used as a state approved universal screener so that as a school we can assess to ensure that the curriculum we teach is meeting grade level standards outlined in Iowa Core.  The FAST Assessments can be broken down by grade level, individual teachers and even individual classes.  The reports offered through FAST also assist us in monitoring individual student growth throughout the school year and determine which grade level standards the students have mastered and provide additional learning for students who have not met a concept or skill needed to achieve proficiency at grade level.
The FAST Assessment is given on the student’s computer and headphones or ear buds are needed because there is an audio component to the assessment.  Students will be taking the assessments during their Math and Literacy classes according to the schedule below.  Parents will receive a report on their student during conferences in October from your student’s Math or Literacy teachers.  The FAST Assessments will be given again in January and in April/May to monitor individual student growth throughout the school year.
