Maquoketa High School art students traveled to Manchester to compete in the annual WAMAC Art Competition hosted by West Delaware High School on April 16th. 8 schools participated, with each allowed to bring 20 works of art to compete in various categories. 20 students  participated from Maquoketa based on the quality of their work and different categories they could represent. They were:  Ben Davison, Lauren Claeys, John Goldyn, Jon Kloft, Makayla Anderson
Brooke Whitney, Gabbi Wisco, Kara Mueller, Kelsi Lange, Morgan Vervaecke, Shelby Yearwood, Chiara Atienza, Kristin Lane, Olivia Kutch,  Aubree Taylor, Brooklyn Manders, Cassie Huebbe, Brooke Kleeman, Sarah Skladzien, and Michaela Kelly.

The following students placed or received honorable mentions for their art:
In black and white drawing, 3rd place to Aubree Taylor with Open Road; honorable mentions to Mikayla Anderson with Snail and Morgan Vervaecke with Lazy Sunday .
In colored drawing, honorable mention to Michaela Kelly with See in Color.
In opaque painting, 2nd place to Olivia Kutch with Bull
In mixed media 2-D, honorable mention to Sarah Skladzien with Truck.
In printmaking, 1st place to Kelsi Lange with Self-Portrait.
In experimental photography, 2nd place went to Kristin Lane with her untitled photograph.  Most creative title for artwork was awarded to Ben Davison for his drawing, Define Insanity

Maquoketa Soccer T-Shirt Order Forms are available in the office.  Forms must be returned to the office with payment no later than this Friday, April 25.

Summer school applications are available from the Guidance office or the Library.  Applications are due to the library by May 9, 2014.

Seniors:  If you have been awarded any scholarships (from colleges, parents employers, etc.)  that you think guidance is not aware of please bring in the information of the amount awarded and who sponsored the scholarship and give to Mrs. Yarolim by Monday, April 28th.  We cannot announce scholarship awards at your Senior Award Ceremony if we are not aware of them!

Ashford University will be her on Friday, April 25th at 1:00 in the guidance office.

All Prom eligible students are encouraged to come to the After Prom Party!

It’s starts when YOU get there (after prom).  Even if you don’t go to Prom – students are invited.
