Reminder: If you are going to WAMAC art competition in Dyersville, or CCC Fine Arts days this week, you must get a blue sheet filled out and signed by your teachers beforehand.
If your work was chosen for WAMAC Art Competition at Beckman, we will be leaving promptly at 8:20 on Wed., 4/13, from the front door of the HS. Please be on time, so we are not late.
If participating in CCC Fine Arts competition on Friday, 4/15, please be at the front door of the HS, ready to go, by 8:15.
SENIORS: Reminder that there will be a mandatory senior meeting in the new gym on Friday, April 15th during GST. Please bring a pen or pencil and your computer.
Baccalaureate planning meetings with participating pastors are going to be held April 13, 20 & 27 for any seniors interested in attending. They will be held in the front lobby area during GST. *BACCALAUREATE will be May 11 at 7:00 PM at United Methodist Church.
Northwest Iowa Community College will be here on Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00 in the counseling office. A signup sheet is in the counseling office.
Tree Planting VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Pine Valley Nature Area – meet at main parking lot on 30th Ave, just south of E17
Volunteers needed! We have 3,500 tree seedlings to replant a clear cut from storm damage at the park. Many hands are needed to plant trees. Rough terrain: wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Bring gloves, water bottle and tree bar if you have one. Tree bars and other equipment will be provided. Spread the word and gather your friends and family to help us with this large tree planting! All ages welcome. RSVP by Thursday, April 28 at Noon to firstname.lastname@example.org. (If you need a ride, you can meet a staff member at the Hurstville Center. Please arrange ahead of time). Attention: 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students – Petitions to run for a Student Senate class representative position for the 2016-2017 school year are now available. See Ms. Lansing or Mrs. Raker for a packet. Your petitions are due by Tuesday, April 12 at 3:30 to Ms. Lansing or Mrs. Raker.
The East Area Special Olympics Track and Field Event was held Saturday, April 9th at North Scott Junior High School in Eldridge. Approximately 480 athletes competed throughout eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin. Competing from Maquoketa High School were:
Vanessa Courter – 2nd in the turbo javelin and 1st in the 400 meter walk
Blake Stamper – 3rd in the turbo javelin and 1st in the 50 meter walk
Randy Johnson – 2nd in the softball throw and 2nd in the 50 meter dash
Luke Johnson – 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 1st in the shot put
Michael Stamper – 1st in the 50 meter dash and 1st in the 100 meter dash
Dakota Jordan – 3rd in the 100 meter dash and 1st in the running long jump
First place winners earn the right to compete at the state competition held on the IA State campus May 19th, 20th, and 21st. Congratulations to all these athletes from Maquoketa High School!!
All student-athletes interested in playing high school football should attend an informational meeting on Friday, April 15, during GST in the West Gym. Please report to GST for attendance. Bring a pen or a pencil to the meeting.
