Youth Farm Safety Class to begin Jan. 24

A farm equipment safety certification course will be sponsored by the Jackson County Farm Bureau young farmers committee for young people ages 12 and up. This course is not just for farm kids, but for kids that may visit a farm.  The course has been updated with new teaching materials and electronic interaction. Adults are also welcome. Jackson and Clinton County Farm Bureaus alternate hosting the course each year.

The eight-week course will be held Sunday evenings, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., beginning Jan. 24. Cost of the course is $15 to cover the cost of materials.

For students to pass the course they are required to have 24 hours of classroom time and to pass a driving test. Students who complete the course will receive a t-shirt from the sponsors who help make this class possible.

Contact the Jackson County Farm Bureau at 563-652-2456 or the Clinton County Farm Bureau at 563-659-5134 for preregistration or more information. Sign-up deadline is Jan. 18.
