Letter From Mr. Hoover
Hello Community of Maquoketa!
I am excited and honored to be sending this first written communication out as your partner in education. It is not often that you get an opportunity to work with quality, student-centered educators in a supportive community. However, I believe that I have received that chance. Please give me a minute of your time to introduce my family and myself.
My name is Chris Hoover and I am excited to be the incoming Superintendent of Schools in Maquoketa! I was born and raised in Independence, Iowa. I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education from Upper Iowa University and began my teaching career in Independence as a 7th Grade World Geography instructor and coach.
While teaching I earned my Masters Degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. After 9 years of teaching and 13 years of coaching, I began the journey as a school administrator. The past 8 years have seen me as an Activities Director, Assistant High School and Middle School Principal, Middle School Principal, Director of Special Education and Superintendent.
Personally, I love family, friends, sports, music, traveling, and flying airplanes.
My wife, Karin, and son, Keelan, are also excited to be here. We have had an opportunity to meet many people and are very proud to be calling Maquoketa our home. I look forward to continuing the journey to educational excellence with each and every one of you.
