Maquoketa Middle School

Daily Announcements

Tuesday, April 18

“A” Day

CONGRATULATIONS to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Maquoketa Middle School band members who represented our school in a RECORD SETTING way at last Saturday’s Solo and Ensemble Festival sponsored by the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association. Out of 44 entries, 42 received a rating of “Superior.” This means that 95.45% of our performances earned a “Superior” rating, smashing the previous record of 84% set in 2005. (Last year, 77% of all entries earned a rating of “Superior.”) The remaining two entries earned ratings of “Excellent+” and “Excellent.” Also, nine students earned the additional distinction of “Highly Superior” for a truly exceptional performance. The students earning “Highly Superior” ratings were 6th graders Timothy “TJ” Traverse, Alayna Wilhelm, 7th graders Kamryn Bearce, Sylvia Pauls, Abigail Moubry, Jayden Schaver, Addison Yarolem, and 8th graders Cayson Hayward, and Madilyn Koch. A special shout-out goes to those students who just started on their instruments this year as well as to the students who switched to a new instrument this year. That is amazing progress! WAY TO GO BANDS!!!
