“B” Day

STUDENTS:

Preorder yearbooks were handed out to students during lunch on Tuesday, April 5. We only have 3 available for sale in the office for $18.00 each. First come, first served.

Congratulations to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band students who represented Maquoketa Middle School so well at the N.E.I.B.A. Solo and Ensemble Festival held here at Maquoketa last Saturday on April 2nd!  Out of 39 entries, the results were as follows:

30 “Superior” ratings (77% of all entries)
9 “Excellent” ratings
A new category of “Highly Superior” recognizes the very best performances of the day.  Of our 30 “Superior” ratings, 8 performances received the additional distinction of “Highly Superior.” The students who received “Highly Superior” ratings were Tristan Blackburn, Caitleen Zheng, Chamberly Bock, Jalynn Henshaw, Natalie Keller, Kailey Hovey, Mia Reicks, Ainsley Munson, Trinity Nikkel, and Sam Kress. WAY TO GO, BANDS!

Maquoketa YMCA Summer Baseball/Softball information is in the office. 12 year olds and younger sign up at the Y by April 11.

8th grade graduation announcement:

We have decided to have Eighth Grade Send Off via slideshow much like we have the past 2 years. We will send this out via school messenger email, post this on our school website, and on our school Facebook page. Awards will be handed out here at school during grade level award ceremonies on the last day of school. More information to come on that!

2022 Cardinal Youth Summer Football Camp sheet is in the office. Camp is July 18-20 from 1-3pm. Registration is due by June 30. Camp Fee is $20.

The Maquoketa Cardinal Soccer camp is an opportunity to learn and improve on skills (dribbling, passing, and shooting) while having fun playing the game of soccer!  Regardless of the experience or knowledge of soccer, all players are welcome! Players will also get to play in a game where parents/guardians are welcome to come and watch, along with receiving an official Cardinal Soccer T-Shirt! Forms are available in the office!

Like to paint, draw, or color? Use that creativity and create a poster for the Jackson Soil & Water Conservation District. This year’s theme is “Healthy Soil Healthy Life” and must be on the poster. For more information please see your science teacher or Mrs. Sampica. 1st Place winners receive $15, 2nd receives $10 with possible additional prizes if selected for the state level. Posters are due by April 29.

Leader in Me Focus: Consider offering to prepare a snack for the family and choose a healthy alternative.
