MCSD Approves District Mission & Vision Statements

October 25, 2017, (Maquoketa, IA): The Maquoketa Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the development and approval of a new, clear, focused mission and vision statement to guide the school district into the future.

The new MCSD Mission Statement reads: To ensure all students and staff are learning at high levels.

Having a clear mission statement is an important piece of the school district’s foundation and will serve as the framework for making decisions to establish a common direction of growth. The new MCSD mission statement is based on the core belief that all students will be engaged and empowered to reach their highest academic potential and personal growth.

While the mission serves as a reminder of purpose, the vision statement is a goal or a common ambition.

The new MCSD Vision Statement reads: To develop a culture of collaboration and communication that supports continuous improvement for all.

Moving forward, the mission and vision will be constant, visible elements throughout the school district. They will serve as reminders to our students, staff and community of who the MCSD is and where the district is heading in the future.

Superintendent Chris Hoover had this to say, “The mission and vision of Maquoketa are directly related to the work that we have been doing with Professional Learning Communities throughout the district. The three big ideas that drive the work of a PLC are: 1) A focus on Learning. 2) A Collaborative Culture and Collective Responsibility. 3) A Results Orientation. Our mission and vision stand as a reminder of the work we are doing and that students remain at the center of all we do.”
