UPDATE: We realized we had a conflict on the time for our 4th Grade "Move Up" ceremony so we have adjusted our start time so that families can attend events happening at Briggs and the MS on this day. Thanks for understanding!

REMINDER: Tomorrow, May 23, Briggs students will be going to the Maquoketa YMCA. Each grade will be there for an hour and students will have the choice to play in the gym, walk on the track, or go swimming. Students must provide their own swimsuits and towels if they wish to use the pool. We are grateful for this opportunity the YMCA partners with our school to provide!!

Congratulations to the class of 2025! Be sure to join us for our graduation ceremony Sunday, May 25th at 2:00pm. Join us in an afternoon of celebrating achievements, dedication and the bright future that lies ahead for our Maquoketa High School seniors beyond graduation.

UPDATE: The Pitch Hit & Run scheduled for today (5/20/25) has been postponed. A new date will be announced in the future.
The Kiwanis Club of Maquoketa is hosting the local 2025 MLB Pitch Hit and Run competition on Tuesday, May 20th. This is open to all children 7-14 (as of 11/15/2025) and is free to all!

LATE REMINDER: We have our second Parent/Student Transition Meeting this evening at the Middle School at 5:30pm for parents of incoming 5th & 6th graders. Like our last meeting, parents and students will learn more about the transition to the Middle School, have an opportunity to ask questions to seek answers, as well as get a tour of where the fifth and sixth grade classrooms will be located for the upcoming school year. We hope to see you all there!

Today, we celebrate Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! 🎉 I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing para professionals in our district. Your unwavering support for our students, staff, and families makes a huge difference every day! 💙 You are truly valued members of our team.

4th & 5th Grade Parents: Mark your calendar and plan to join us for the 4th grade & 5th grade Move Up Meeting this Thursday, March 20th at 5:30pm in the Briggs Gym. We hope to see you there!

Due to unstable weather conditions, including high wind advisories (gusts up to 60 mph) and potential snowfall reducing visibility, Maquoketa CSD will have a virtual learning day today, Wednesday, March 5th. The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority, and we are erring on the side of caution given the unpredictable nature of this storm.
📅 Conferences Update:
* Conferences today (March 5th) are canceled and will be rescheduled for Wednesday, March 12th.
* Conferences on Thursday, March 6th, will continue as planned.
* Additional details and conference sign-up information will be shared soon.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenging weather conditions.
Thank you for your flexibility, and stay safe!
Superintendent Notz
