Area legislators took time to meet with superintendents from the Mississippi Bend AEA area to review our top legislative priorities. Specific topics that were discussed included the lack of open enrollment deadlines and how a specific date is needed for districts to be fiscally responsible and to support our students and staffing needs to the best of our ability. In addition, we discussed Supplemental State Aid (SSA) and the role of the AEAs and the services they provide to districts. We specifically shared that if AEAs were to consolidate, the services to students and school improvement efforts will be negatively impacted. Thank You to Senator Cournoyer and Representative Mommsen for participating in this open dialogue and collaborating to understand the needs of our students, staff and families.
