During the month of December, Peggy Flenker and Kathy Seyfert joined us from the local Kiwanis Club to encourage our 2nd grade students to set and achieve their Terrific Kid goal throughout December and during the Christmas break.
Our goal centered around the spirit of caring and giving. The students participated in various acts of kindness, both for others and themselves, which they needed to complete to earn a pizza party. We successfully completed four acts of kindness at school, including making poinsettias for Maquoketa State Bank, coloring stockings for local nursing home residents, participating in our school's Christmas sing, and spending quality time reading and playing games with our kindergarten friends. Additionally, students set personal goals to read a certain number of minutes over the break and to perform a kind act for someone special.
December also featured our second grade Christmas store, where each student created a list of special people they wanted to gift. By earning stars for good behavior, the children had the opportunity to visit the store and select the perfect gifts for their loved ones. It was heartwarming to see their excitement and thoughtfulness.
Thank you for being a part of our students' journey and for fostering an environment where kindness thrives!
