high school principal finalists

MAQUOKETA, Iowa — The Maquoketa Community School District has announced three finalists in its search for the next high school principal. The finalists are Keith Kohl, Anita Chatterjee, and Ryan Fritz.

Kohl brings 12 years of experience in education and currently serves as Maquoketa High School assistant principal. His background also includes roles as an at-risk educator, science teacher and head coach in the Dubuque Community School District, as well as activities director and assistant principal in Osage. He completed the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy in 2021, and holds a master’s degree in secondary science education from the University of Northern Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Dubuque.

Chatterjee brings more than a decade of experience in public education, including leadership roles as a 7–12 assistant principal and an elementary principal most recently at Bellflower Unified School District in Bellflower, CA. She also has a range of experience in teaching, including serving as a general education teacher, instructional leader, and classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. Chatterjee earned a doctorate in educational leadership from California State University, Long Beach. She also holds a master’s degree in educational administration from the same institution and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Delhi University in India.

Since 2019, Fritz has served as principal of Cascade Junior/Senior High School. He also has served as associate high school principal and 504 coordinator in the College Community district and as assistant principal in the Yuma, Arizona, district. Before entering administration, he was a high school social studies teacher and coach, bringing a total of 15 years of experience in education. Fritz earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, Yuma, and a bachelor’s degree in history education from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan. 

The district has been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services (GLS) to conduct the search. As a next step, interview teams will conduct formal interviews with each of the finalists on April 2.  The next principal will officially begin leading Maquoketa High School on July 1, 2026
