I’m pleased to share that Keith Kohl has been offered the position as our new MHS Principal. This will be formally recommended to the MCSD School Board for approval on Monday, April 13.
Keith brings 12 years of experience in education and currently serves as assistant principal at Maquoketa High School. His background includes work as an at-risk educator, science teacher, and head coach in the Dubuque Community School District, as well as serving as an activities director and assistant principal in Osage. He is a graduate of the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy and holds degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Dubuque.
This was a competitive process, with 18 qualified applicants. Through our partnership with Grundmeyer Leader Services, we identified six semifinalists and three finalists who participated in interviews on April 2. This process included multiple opportunities for staff and community stakeholders to provide input and be part of this important decision.
I’m grateful for the time, thoughtfulness, and care so many contributed throughout the process. I’m excited about the leadership Keith will bring to Maquoketa High School—his strong relationships with students and staff, along with his commitment to continued growth, will help us move our goals forward.
Please join me in congratulating Keith on this new role and in supporting him as he steps into this leadership position.
Tara Notz, Superintendent
Maquoketa CSD
