Scholastic Book Fair

We are excited to welcome families to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences at Cardinal Elementary! All conferences at Cardinal will be help in person unless you have requested a virtual meeting through our "Meet the Teacher" online scheduling system. These will begin Wednesday, October 15th from 2:00pm - 7:0pm and Thursday, October 16th from 2:00pm - 7:00pm. Don't forget students will be on an early out schedule with a 1:30pm dismissal which means buses will leave between 1:05 and 1:10. Students will be dismissed out the front doors at 1:10pm for those that walk or get picked up.

This important time allows us to come together as a team to celebrate your child’s growth, discuss their progress, and set goals for continued success. This year, we’re embracing “student-involved” conferences — which means your child will be joining you during the conference. Having students participate helps them take ownership of their learning and gives them the chance to share their achievements and reflections firsthand.

We believe involving students in these conversations strengthens the partnership between home and school and empowers students to become active learners.

We are also excited to announce that Cardinal will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair for all Cardinal and Briggs families during conference week. The fair will be available from 2:00pm - 7:00pm during both conference nights. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to explore new and adventurous books by some of your child’s favorite authors. Helping your child pick out books they love is a fantastic way to inspire a lifelong passion for reading.

Tips for Parents to Promote a Love of Reading at Home:

  • Make Reading a Special Time: Set aside a cozy, quiet spot and a regular time each day for reading together.

  • Let Your Child Choose: Encourage your child to pick books that interest them, whether it’s about animals, superheroes, or adventures.

  • Read Aloud with Expression: Use different voices and tones to make stories come alive and keep your child engaged.

  • Ask Questions: Talk about the story, pictures, and characters to deepen understanding and curiosity.

  • Be a Reading Role Model: Let your child see you reading books, magazines, or anything you enjoy.

  • Celebrate Reading Wins: Praise your child’s efforts and celebrate when they finish a book or learn new words.

We hope you’ll take advantage of the Book Fair to find exciting new stories that spark your child’s imagination and joy for reading!

We look forward to seeing you and your child soon as we work together to support their journey!
