Dear Cardinal Elementary Families,
On November 25th, we are excited to host our Level-Up Leadership Day to recognize the wonderful leadership skills our students have been developing this year! This special celebration honors the habits and progress your children have made in learning and following the rules and expectations throughout their classrooms and all areas of the school.
To make the day fun and memorable, students will enjoy a designated time of board game fun, where they can choose from a variety of engaging games to play with their friends. It’s a great way to celebrate teamwork, patience, and good sportsmanship — key leadership qualities!
Why Leadership Matters
At Cardinal Elementary, we believe every student can be a leader. Leadership means taking responsibility, helping others, and making positive choices. Our students show leadership every day through many important jobs and roles, such as:
Flag Helpers who respectfully manage the flag raising and lowering each day
Greeters who welcome visitors with a smile
Attendance Helpers who assist teachers with getting the attendance to our secretary, Cheryl
Assembly Helpers who support with getting the gym ready for assembly day
Newscasters who share school news with peers and families
Hallway Monitors who keep our halls safe and orderly
Lunchroom Helpers who assist in cleaning the cafeteria
Line Leaders who guide classmates safely through the building
Calendar Helpers who share important dates, weather announcements and counting skills
Classroom Cleaners who help maintain a tidy learning space
Each role teaches responsibility, cooperation, and pride in our school community.
The 7 Habits of Happy, Successful Leaders
Our leadership program is inspired by the 8 Habits from Leader in Me, which help children build strong character and life skills:
Be Proactive — Take initiative and choose your actions
Begin with the End in Mind — Set goals and plan ahead
Put First Things First — Prioritize important tasks
Think Win-Win — Look for solutions that benefit everyone
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood — Listen carefully before speaking
Synergize — Work well with others to achieve more
Sharpen the Saw — Take care of yourself to stay strong and balanced
Find Your Voice - and encourage others to find theirs by sharing talents, thoughts, and ideas with others
By practicing these habits, our students grow into confident, caring leaders ready to make a difference in their classrooms and beyond.
Thank you for supporting your child’s leadership journey. We look forward to celebrating their growth and achievements on November 25th!
Go Cardinals!
Warm regards,
Sara Bennis
