Tonight is the last performance of Maquoketa High Schools musical production of SIster Act based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture "Sister Act" written by Joseph Howard. Show takes place at Ohnward Fine Arts Center and begins at 7:00pm. Tickets available at the door. $12 for adults and $10 for students. Come enjoy a night of music and laughter!

Students in Health Science and Construction classes went to the QCCA Expo Center Center April 9th for the Quad City Build My Future Event where they were able to participate in hands on learning activities around potential careers.

Dr. Sybesma took time to come to the Intro to Health Careers class to talk to them about optometry. Students got a chance to try out some of the different tools he uses.

Jack Strodtman put together some awesome hanging baskets! He’s been taking great care of the plants. He’s really good at pinching them back to help them grow more full and get those big, beautiful blooms! We're excited to keep showing off what everyone’s made! Each student put together 6 different hanging baskets, and they’re all labeled so you can check out their individual style. Check out Maranda Woods’ beautiful creations! Her hand-crafted pots are stunning! When asked about her favorite part of the Greenhouse Management class, Maranda shared: “One of my favorite parts of greenhouse management class has been designing plant arrangements. I love getting creative and putting together pieces that customers will enjoy. It’s also been really rewarding to watch everything grow and come to life over the past few weeks! 🌿🌼🌱🌸”

🔌 Work-Based Learning Spotlight: Charlie Hafner 🔧 Charlie Hafner, a student in our Work-Based Learning class, has been at his placement at PowerUp Electric! From installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems to helping out in the shop, Charlie is learning what it takes to run a successful electrical business. In this photo, Charlie was hard at work installing a ladder rack on the company van—just one of the many ways he’s contributing and building real-world skills. 💪 A huge thank you to PowerUp Electric for providing this valuable opportunity and supporting our students' growth and future careers!

Student senate hosted a spring sports and clubs recognition assembly on Tuesday, April 8. Congratulations to these students!

Students from our Spanish Club got together to paint egg shells for "cascarones." They also learned how to make a simple meal called "migas" with the eggs. (zero waste project)

LAST CALL!!! Last day to purchase prom tickets is tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9th. Tickets will be for sale during lunch and are $50 each. Once again, this is the LAST day you will be able to purchase tickets so don't miss out!!!!

Some students from the high school visited three colleges in Dubuque yesterday, including University of Dubuque, Clarke University, and Loras College with Mrs. McLaughlin. College visits are winding down for the year. Current sophomores and juniors should continue to explore post secondary options over the summer! The counseling office is looking forward to more college visits next year.

Katie Otten, a senior at Maquoketa High School, has been gaining valuable real-world experience through her Work-Based Learning class at Maquoketa State Bank! 💼✨ She’s had the opportunity to rotate through each department, learning the ins and outs of the banking world—from customer service to behind-the-scenes operations. Thank you to Maquoketa State Bank for partnering with Maquoketa Schools to provide students with incredible opportunities for growth and career exploration!

Four HOSA members competed at the State Competition on April 6/7. Congratulations to Gracie Frett for earning 2nd place in the Research Poster Event!
