The Maquoketa High School Graduation Ceremony will be held as regularly scheduled on Friday, May 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Maquoketa High School Main Gymnasium. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our graduates alongside their families, friends, staff, and community members.

Please help us welcome them back to Maquoketa High School tonight at approximately 8:45 PM as we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our student-athletes.
Let’s line up at the High School and show our Cardinal pride! ❤️🖤🏃

All of our students across the district have put in tremendous efforts for these performances and would love to share their hard work with you!
Thank you for your continued support!

Due to the potential for severe storms this afternoon, we will implement a 12:30 early out dismissal today (one hour earlier than our normal Friday dismissal schedule) to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Based on information from the National Weather Service, there is concern that storms may impact our area this afternoon. Our goal is to ensure that students and staff are safe and not in transit during any severe weather.
Today’s dismissal will be one hour earlier than our typical Friday early out schedule. For example, if your student is picked up at 1:10 PM on Fridays, today their pick-up time will be 12:10 PM. If they are normally dropped off by the bus at 2:00 they will be dropped off at 1:00.
There will be no after school practices or activities today, Friday, April 17th.
We recognize that the exact timing of storms can be unpredictable; however, we always strive to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued support in helping us prioritize the care and safety of our school community.
Sincerely,
Tara Notz
Superintendent
Maquoketa Community School District

5th grade students are learning about the Renaissance artists. Recently we focused on Michelangelo and his painting of the Sistine Chapel. We tried our own "paintings" as well.

Due to blowing and drifting snow on rural gravel roads, Maquoketa Community School District will have a 2-hour late start tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17.
* Buses will run 2 hours later than normal morning pick-up times
* No morning activities
* No morning preschool
* No breakfast will be served
We will continue to monitor conditions closely. If any changes are necessary, additional information will be shared.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff during these winter weather conditions.

Due to the winter weather forecast, Maquoketa Community School District will have a Virtual Learning Day on Monday, March 16.

Teachers will be available to respond to student questions through email or Rooms.
A decision regarding practices and after-school activities will be made later in the day on Monday.
Thank you for your flexibility and support as we prioritize student and staff safety.

These 5th/6th graders had a lot of fun learning, singing, and performing at the SEICDA honor choir earlier this month! Great job everyone!

Looking ahead to tomorrow morning, temperatures are forecasted to be around -14°F at 6:00 a.m. , so we do not anticipate any delays or cancellations at this time.
Students typically remain indoors for recess when temperatures are below 0°F, but we still ask that all students come to school dressed warmly, especially those riding the bus. Having proper winter gear is important in case of any unforeseen delays.
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate this early start to winter!
