
Hello, Basketball Families!
We’re gearing up for an awesome season, and practices are just around the corner. Here’s the schedule for the week:
Tuesday, 1/7: 3:30-5:30 PM
Wednesday, 1/8: 6:30-7:45 AM
Thursday, 1/9: 3:30-5:30 PM
Friday, 1/10: 3:30-5:30 PM
📅 Schedules will be handed out after our first practice on Tuesday, 1/7. All practices will be held at the MS gym and boys can join anytime this week.
We’ll also be forming a Thrillshare group for all announcements and updates, so stay tuned for more info on that.
Can’t wait to see everyone on the court! Let’s make this a season to remember.

6th grade literacy classes had a Book Tasting today to start off the new semester! Students "tasted" new genres of books to hopefully find books they like!

7th/8th Grade Chorus brought carols of the season to Maquoketa State Bank today.


Lego League Competition has been canceled for tomorrow. No reschedule date has been given at this time. We hope to know more next week.

Two of our middle school students were selected for and participated in the NEIBA Middle School Honor Band in Oelwein this weekend. Congrats Kaylee and Alexz! 🎶

6th graders had a great opportunity learning about financial literacy with a program called Spend It or Save It from the National Theatre for Children.

We are studing the standard below and we DID just that! Onto all things seasons and the tilt of the Earth!
MS-ESS1-1. Develop and use a model of the Earth-sun-moon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the sun and moon, and seasons.

Our iJag Career Association members got the chance to travel to Ames yesterday to participate in the Leadership Development Conference! Fun and learning was had by all!




Students are doing an excellent job making puzzles and packages for graphic design.





8th grade is learning about convection currents and the Coriolis effect, we modeled the Coriolis effect today with balloons and dye.







We had a great time celebrating Halloween with a staff costume contest. The staff voted on their favorites district wide and the winners are:
Most Creative Costume: "The Struggle Bus" Angela Brown and Taylor Fuerste at Cardinal
Funniest Costume: "Mr. Clean" Zac Gavin at MHS
Best Team Theme: "The 5th Grade Final Tour" Josh Koob, Brielle Reicks, Mandy Fischer, Jayme Johnson and Laura Grau at Briggs
Overall People's Choice: "The Spice Girls" Jill Rockwell, Kate Kramer, Audreianna Schmidt, Cathy Huebbe, Amy Latner and Alicia Gade at MMS.
