Hello Cardinal Elementary Families,
We would like to share with you our Leaders of the Week at Cardinal Elementary. Please watch the video (https://youtu.be/irgi-MkMMPY) to learn more about how they earned these honors. We also review what it means to "choose your own weather" and more about our "circle of control" as we continue to focus on Habit 1: Be Proactive!
This week we honor our 1st grade leaders along with two OUTSTANDING teachers, Andrea Dostal (2nd grade classroom teacher), and Robin DeMuth (Title 1 Reading & Math). We are grateful for our Cardinal Leaders!

Today at Cardinal Elementary, we introduced students to Habit #1: Be Proactive with some help from our Student Lighthouse Team. We also recognized our 2nd Grade Leaders of the Week and our Staff Shout-Outs! (https://youtu.be/Alm7MXLPEQo) We are grateful to have so many great leaders at Cardinal Elementary!

Great XC meet at Anamosa today! Congratulations to Izzy Hardin on her first place finish and to all our runners! Go Cards!

A giant shout-out to Osterhaus Pharmacy today who delivered items for our students and families in support of the Cardinal Cupboard program. We greatly appreciate your generous donations!

Cardinal Elementary LOVED meeting our youngest students today as we welcomed in the new preschool classes. It's going to be a year filled with excitement and learning!

Cardinal 2nd graders have had a great introduction to the new CKLA reading series as they learn about different sounds and the "power bar". Please check with your 2nd grader to see if they can explain the power of this bar. We are looking forward to seeing the reading and writing abilities of our students grow as we dig deeper into the sounds of letters and how they work together to help us read and write!

Hello Cardinal Families,
We understand that the pick-up lines can get long as we release students at the end of the day, however, please try to refrain from blocking the parking lots of our neighbors.
We greatly appreciate your assistance and understanding.
Cardinal Elementary

Today at Cardinal Elementary we had our first "Leadership Assembly" and "Cardinal Clubs". Students had a chance to "connect" and get to know more about the members in their clubs. During "Cardinal Clubs" groups of approx. 12 students from grades K-2 meet with a new teacher for 20 minutes on Wednesdays to learn more about the 8 Habits of Leader in Me that help us all to be happy and healthy. During the month of September we will focus on Habit 1: Be Proactive.
Please watch the video (https://youtu.be/NeAgzccdvPA) to see our Student Lighthouse Team share more about the 8 habits and what we will be learning more about this year as we grow our leadership skills!

We are excited for our first home XC meet in a long time at Prairie Creek. Thank you to our coaching staff, athletics department, grounds crew, Jackson County Parks and volunteers who have helped get this beautiful course ready for runners! Go Cards!

We invite you to review the Cardinal Elementary expectations with your students at home.

Cardinal Elementary students are learning the expectations and practicing with their peers to ensure we have a great space for all to learn!

All MCSD buildings have AC. We do not expect to have early outs due to heat. If your student rides the bus, we will have extra water on the bus. If you decide to pick up your student instead of riding the bus, contact your building or Rooms message your teacher in the morning.

All sports practices will either be in the morning or, if after school, they will be indoors. See your Rooms messages or email from individual coaches about your specific sports practice information.
