Kindergarten wrapped up their CKLA unit about Kings and Queens with a Royal Tea Party! Their attire was fancy and the manners were impeccable!

Wrapping up our Animals and Habitats domain in Knowledge, Mrs. Trusty's first grade class made animals found in different kinds of habitats with play-doh! It was a blast!

Congratulations to our TK/Kindergarten Leaders of the Week! Proud of you Ja'Zayvion Haddock, William Casel, Olivia Creecy-Ruttan, Eli Paulsen.

Vision to Learn came back today to distribute the final round of glasses! We are very thankful! 🤓❤️

First graders were partner reading and answering comprehension questions! What a fun way to learn!

Pigs one day, an adorable bunny the next! 😍🐇 Thank you SO much to Mrs. Richardson, kindergarten teacher at Cardinal, for bringing it in for preschool to meet! 😁 We have had a fun and busy week! 🩵

THANK YOU to all of you who supported our Parent Lighthouse Team by purchasing a Spring Cookie Kit. Your generosity and support will help us bring many fun events and celebrations to our students and staff.
Just a reminder that cookie kits can be picked up at the building you indicated (Briggs or Cardinal) Thursday April 17th, between 10am-3pm. The district offices will be closed Friday, April 18th-Monday, April 21st. If you wish to have the kit(s) you purchased sent home with your student, please reach out to our building secretaries to inform them of this request. There are no additional kits for purchase in either building.
Thank you & have a wonderful spring break!!

PIGGIES IN PRESCHOOL! 😍🐷🥳 We love pig day, and it wouldn’t be possible without second grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, and her husband, Chris! Thank you to Chris and company for allowing us to get up close and personal with some pigs, both big and small, today! It is a day that students will hopefully remember for a long time. 🩷

We hope you can join us on Thursday afternoon from 4:30-5:30 for our Cardinal STEM Night at Innovate 120! Come explore 8 fun and exciting STEM centers!

2nd grade students have been reading a story called "Sir Gus". They recently had the opportunity to work with a partner to come up with a new ending of the story. They had to think of "what if..." questions to form different story endings! After writing, they got to share with the class! We all loved listening to the new endings to the story.

Last week, Jenna from the Farm Bureau stopped by to do an Ag in the Classroom lesson. This year's presentation was all about flower farms. After students learned how flower farms operate and what they need to operate a flower farm, student got busy creating their own flower farms. On their flower farm they needed a name, a place for customers to pay for flowers, and a lemonade stand for customers to enjoy. The kids loved this activity! Thank you, Jenna!

Today, we celebrate Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! 🎉 I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing para professionals in our district. Your unwavering support for our students, staff, and families makes a huge difference every day! 💙 You are truly valued members of our team.

Two of our Cardinal 1st grade students Jayden Lux and Junior Brundage, enjoyed "Lunch with the Law" today! Maquoketa Police Department, Assistant Chief Jason Thomson, Taylor Marshall, and School Resource Officer James Tenney escorted these students to the Timber City Bowling Center for lunch after they earned this reward for being great role models for others at Cardinal Elementary! As part of this honor these boys got to select a teacher that has made a positive IMPACT on their learning. Well deserved, Mrs. Gavin and Mrs. Richardson! We are proud of you all! ❤️👏

Thank you to D'Agostino DDS for coming to teach our students about the importance of taking care of our teeth!

Preschool had a BLAST celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! The leprechaun traps were quite impressive—but unfortunately the sneaky little leprechaun tricked us all! ☘️ He left us some treats and an experiment to try. Maybe we’ll have better luck next year! 🤞🏼😊

Ms Erin’s preschool classes have been enjoying all of the Saint Patrick's activities over the last week!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Cardinal Elementary.
