Hello Cardinal Elementary Families,

Today at Cardinal Elementary we recognized our 1st and Kindergarten Leaders of the Month for Habit 4: Think Win-Win. Congratulations to the following students.

Fletcher Hamilton has been working hard on following directions the first time and getting his work done on time.

Za'Leah Fritcsh thinks win-win with her friends by trying to think of compromises when she's playing with her friends so that all feel like they are winning. She is also very helpful in the classroom, not only helping to keep our classroom clean but also helping friends when they need it. Way to go, Za'Leah!

Alan Chen has been an awesome leader in our classroom! He always focuses on what he needs to get done and works very hard on his work. He's an amazing role model for others. Way to go, Alan!

Claira Yeager does a great job of solving problems and helping friends compromise. She shows real leadership in "Habit 4 - Think Win Win!" Keep up the great job Claira!

Urijah VanAmburg has been working extremely hard to get his work done on time. His listening has improved as well so he is able to get his work done without additional help. I am so proud of Urijah for gaining confidence and learning so much! :)

Cohen Smith has been a leader in the classroom. He is thinking win-win and helping friends with their work and play. He has been helpful to the substitute and responsible for being in the right place at the right time. Thank you for being a great role model, Cohen!

We are so proud of you all for being leaders!

As we enter the winter season, we want to remind families that our general threshold for canceling school due to cold is when wind chill temperatures fall between -25 to -30°F. At those levels, the National Weather Service typically issues a Wind Chill Warning.

Looking ahead to tomorrow morning, temperatures are forecasted to be around -14°F at 6:00 a.m. , so we do not anticipate any delays or cancellations at this time.

Students typically remain indoors for recess when temperatures are below 0°F, but we still ask that all students come to school dressed warmly, especially those riding the bus. Having proper winter gear is important in case of any unforeseen delays.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate this early start to winter!

Cold Weather Information
Hello Maquoketa Elementary Families,

We are looking forward to seeing students back in the building tomorrow and hope that you all enjoyed the holiday break! We wanted to share a reminder of the winter weather expectations for recess as students will need to have snowpants and snowboots if they want to play in the snow off the blacktop. Temperatures will be cold and students will need a winter coat, hats and mittens to stay warm outside!

Thank you for your support.

Warm regards,
