Hello Cardinal Elementary Families,
Welcome to the New Year! We hope that you all enjoyed the holiday break and are ready for the new year ahead!At Cardinal Elementary we are excited to continue working towards our building goals that focus on progress in literacy, math, and attendance goals for all students. Students are currently tracking their attendance on monthly calendars. Be on the lookout for some goal sheets coming home regarding goals we will set for their FAST testing which will be administered during the month of January. I will be sending out more information regarding these state screeners as they approach.
As a reminder, report cards will be coming home for all students on January 15th this year. Please watch this new CWNK report (
https://youtu.be/DAt1xVVK1GQ) to learn more about what's ahead this coming week. Our Wednesday schedule will change a bit as begin our focus on Habit #4, "Think Win-Win". We are looking forward to seeing all students back in the building on Monday, January 6th!

During the month of December, Maquoketa students TK-5 experienced and learned more about Kiwi through the Pick-A-Better Snack program. Miss Erin’s class has loved learning all about gingerbread as they read their book of the month, “Gingerbread Baby”
Mrs. Owen's class enjoyed their "Hibernation Day!" Pajamas, blankets and stuffies made for a cozy yet informative day! We learned all about which animals hibernate, places animals hibernate, did some "cave writing," bear math and heard some great stories.
Cardinal managed to stay on task even with our PJ's on! We are excited to see all the bright lights and holiday tinsel tomorrow for Twinkle Tinsel Tuesday! Happy Holidays!

-Friday, December 20th is our last day of school in December. School will resume on Monday, January 6th.
