Our first home game of the season is right around the corner! Join us on Friday, September 11 vs. Tipton at Goodenow Stadium as we cheer on our Cardinals!
To ensure every home game is safe, fun, and family-friendly, please take a moment to review the Maquoketa CSD Activities Expectations graphic below before arriving.
Key Reminders:
5th Grade & Younger: Must enter with an adult and stay seated with them.
No Equipment: Leave footballs and other sports gear at home.
Seating: Check the graphic for designated student and family seating areas.
Let’s pack the stands and show our Cardinal pride. See you under the Friday night lights—Go Cards!

TWO-HOUR EARLY DISMISSAL
Maquoketa CSD will dismiss students two hours early on Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3, due to forecasted afternoon heat index values ranging from the upper 90s to 105°F.
Although our buildings are air-conditioned, the prolonged heat and high humidity have made it difficult for some areas to maintain conditions conducive to learning. Condensation has also created wet, slippery surfaces in portions of our buildings. In addition, extended bus rides during the hottest part of the afternoon present a student safety concern.
Students will be dismissed two hours earlier than their normal dismissal time. For example, a student normally dismissed at 3:15 p.m. will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.
There will be no afternoon preschool on Wednesday or Thursday.
Middle School families and student-athletes participating in Middle School sports should check Rooms messaging in the MCSD app for any updated practice information.
Andrew and Delwood students who ride the shuttle will be picked up by their normal Andrew/Delwood shuttle buses and transported home at this early out time.
MCSD will follow its regularly scheduled two-hour early dismissal on Friday, September 4.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

While we came up just short of the victory in a few tight matches, the growth on the court is clear. The girls are competing hard, making great strides, and showing continuous improvement every time they step out there.

Despite the loss, the offense posted big numbers on the gridiron. QB Kye Coakley threw for 158 yards and 3 touchdowns, with WR Cash O'Connell serving as the main target with 6 receptions for 136 yards and 2 scores. On the ground, RB Joe Ihrig powered through for 98 rushing yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, Reid James anchored the defense with a monster night, setting the tone with 14 total tackles.
NEXT UP
The guys hit the road again this Friday, September 4, to take on Northeast. Shake it off, lock in, and prepare for the next battle.

Due to construction, our Opaa Kitchen Staff was unable to fully prepare for hot lunch service at Briggs for the start of the school year. For this reason, we will be serving Grab & Go breakfast and lunch items for the first week and reassessing by the end of the week to determine if this needs to continue a second week or if we will be able to start up with the planned hot meal service menu Opaa has planned.
Each day for breakfast Opaa will be offering a cereal option along with their Grab & Go option. Each day for lunch Opaa will be offering a sandwich option and an Opaa to Go option. All options selected are very popular with our students so we are confident we will have a choice your child will like but as always, your child is also welcome to bring their own school lunch.
We appreciate Oppa's flexibility and readiness to meet our needs, as well as appreciate your understanding and support while we continue to navigate our construction process.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back into the building to make it a great year!!
Mrs. Conner, Briggs Principal
