We are excited to share that the Maquoketa Girls Basketball Team has advanced to the State Basketball Tournament! The team will compete at 3:15 PM on Thursday, March 5th in Des Moines.
To support families and staff who wish to attend and to create as much consistency as possible during these events, Maquoketa CSD will dismiss all schools at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 5th.
There will be no afternoon preschool and no afternoon or evening school activities on Thursday.
We recognize that some families may plan to pick students up early in order to attend the game. Please communicate any of these adjustments for your child to your buildings office secretary. By adjusting our schedule, we hope to:
Maintain a strong focus on learning during the morning.
Provide consistent supports and services to students who rely on them.
Allow staff and students to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and community.
Important Reminder About Pick-Up Times
Thursday’s pick-up times will be exactly one hour earlier than our normal Friday early-out schedule. For example: If you normally pick up your child at 1:10 PM on Fridays, you would pick them up at 12:10 PM on Thursday.
High School Pep Bus Information
We will offer one pep bus for high school students traveling to Des Moines.
Cost: $10 per student.
Payment is due at the time of sign-up.
Money should be turned into the high school front office.
Charging a fee helps us ensure accurate participation numbers and reliable planning.
We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaches and appreciate our community’s support. Thank you for helping us balance celebration with continued learning and student support.
Sincerely,
Maquoketa Admin Team

Due to the late game time and anticipated late return for students, staff, and bus drivers, Maquoketa CSD will operate on a two-hour late start on Tuesday, March 3rd.
To support our team, the district will begin by providing two pep buses for high school students based on student interest. Buses will depart from the high school at 4:40 p.m. on March 2nd. Students must sign up in the high school office by lunchtime on Friday to reserve a seat. High school administrators will notify any students who are not eligible to attend. The buses are only for HS students and not MS students.
The cost of game admission will be covered as part of the trip. Students should bring money for food. Please note that Casey’s Center is a cashless facility, so debit/credit cards or other electronic payment methods will be required for purchases.
We anticipate returning to Maquoketa very late Monday evening. If your student does not have transportation home after we return, please be prepared to pick them up at the high school. All students attending must follow district behavior expectations and adhere to the student handbook while representing Maquoketa on this trip.
We are proud of our student-athletes and look forward to a strong showing of Cardinal support in Des Moines. Go Cardinals!
