We are implementing all of our tornado protocols until the tornado warning passes. If your student has not been picked up on the bus we will wait until after the storm passes.
We will be postponing our Briggs Track & Field Day until Wednesday, May 29th due to impending weather. Thanks for understanding!

All after school events/games will be cancelled for this evening, Tuesday, May 21st due to the potential of severe weather. The After School Program at Briggs will also be cancelled for tonight. Thank You.
Mrs. Ackley, Instructional Coach, and Mrs. Steffen, School Counselor, attended the University of Northern Iowa's Social & Emotional Learning Conference in April. At Wednesday's professional development, they shared with the Briggs staff the importance practicing self-care and finding joy in your every day. As an exit ticket, teachers were invited to write down something that gave them joy that day. Thank you to both building leaders for sharing your learning with us!!

Third graders went to the Maquoketa Caves where they toured the caves, did an activity to discover which bird beaks worked best, and learned about owl adaptations! The weather was not ideal but we persevered!

If you spy something that belongs to your student, remind them to stop by & pick it up, or use Rooms to message their teacher to remind them to pick it up. Sometimes items are left by Cardinal kiddos who attend the After School Program so look closely!!
Any items left at the end of the school year will be donated.
Happy Wednesday! Just sending out a quick message to make parents/families aware the Maquoketa MMEU will be doing some utility work in Little Bear Park this afternoon that may interfere with end of day/pick-up plans you have arranged with your student. During the time that Maquoketa MMEU is in the park, it will be closed down/inaccessible due to safety reasons. If you are changing end of day/pick-up plans and wish to notify your student, please call the school secretary before 12:30pm so that we can get the message to your student. Thank you!

Maquoketa Track and Band Families,
The Conference Track meet has been moved to Friday, May 3rd starting at 11:00 am at Monticello. This is due to the anticipated weather for Thursday evening. This has been schedule during the day to allow all band students to attend Conference Track and any students who are participating in Large Group Band and Vocal Contests in the evening.
